Rochester Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics

As co-founder and director of the Minnesota Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Rochester Polar Bear Plunge and member of Minnesota Executive Council of the LETR for Special Olympics, Kevin:

  • Founded the only Minnesota “Super Plunge:” 24 plunges in 24 hours
  • Contributed to the Rochester Polar Bear Plunge has raised more than $1 million for Special Olympics
  • Plunged more than 120 times and individually raised $30,000
  • Co-founded and directs the Southeast Minnesota Torch Run each June
  • Created the Minnesota Law Enforcement Special Olympics Unified Colors Team
  • Member of the Minnesota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Executive Council and Southern Minnesota Coordinator 
  • Served as Member of the Minnesota LETR Hall of Fame and honored as Special Olympics Volunteer of the Year
  • Represented Minnesota at the International Special Olympics Games and Torch Run in Beijing, Nanjing, and Shanghai, China in 2007
  • Received the 2012 International Torch Run’s Honor, one of 30 officers to ever receive the John Carion Unsung Hero award at the Torch Run Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana


Involved with Stewartville and Olmsted County activities as a longtime member of the Rochester Track Club Board, Kevin is an avid runner and is: 

  • Proud to have completed 25 marathons
  • Co-founder of the Stewartville Cross Country Boosters
  • Founder and Director of the Stewartville Summerfest Runs sponsored by the Stewartville Cross Country Boosters
  • Founder and Director of Nightbeat 5k and 2 Mile Walk in Rochester
  • Committee member of the Med City Marathon and Eastwood Bank Rochester Half Marathon part of the Healthy Human Race weekend
